Chimney Sweeping & Inspection

The CSIA recommends an annual inspection and sweep for any chimney in regular use. In the Tahoe basin, where winters are long and fireplaces run hard, annual service is especially important. If you burn wood, creosote builds up fast—and even gas appliances should be checked yearly for blockages, animal nests, and general wear.

A Level 1 inspection covers all accessible areas of the chimney—interior, exterior, appliance, and connection. It’s what you need for routine annual maintenance. A Level 2 inspection adds a video scan of the flue interior and is required when buying or selling a home, after a chimney fire, after a weather event, or when changing fuel types. We’re certified for both.

CSIA stands for the Chimney Safety Institute of America. It’s the industry’s gold-standard certification for chimney professionals. CSIA-certified technicians have passed rigorous exams on chimney construction, inspection procedures, fire codes, and safety standards. Most chimney companies in the Tahoe area don’t have this certification—we do.
