Chimney Sweeping & Inspection
CSIA-certified sweeps & Level 1/Level 2 inspections by the only team in the Tahoe basin with the credentials to back it up.
A Clean Chimney Is a Safe Chimney
Creosote builds up every time you burn. In Tahoe’s cold, heavy-use winters, that buildup happens fast—and if it’s not cleaned out, it becomes a fire hazard. A regular chimney sweep removes creosote, debris, and animal nests so your fireplace or stove can vent safely.
South Y Fireplace is CSIA-certified for both Level 1 and Level 2 chimney inspections—credentials that most companies in our area don’t have. We handle sweeps and inspections for homeowners, rental properties, and property management companies across the region. If your chimney hasn’t been serviced in the last 12 months, it’s time.
Know What You’re Getting
The Chimney Safety Institute of America defines three inspection levels. We’re certified for the two that matter most.
Level 1 Inspection
The standard annual checkup. We inspect the accessible portions of your chimney interior and exterior, the appliance, and the chimney connection. Recommended every year for chimneys in regular use.
Level 2 Inspection
Required when you’re buying or selling a home, changing fuel types, or after a chimney fire or weather event. Includes everything in Level 1 plus a video scan of the flue interior to check for hidden damage.
Chimney Sweep
A full cleaning of your flue, smoke shelf, and firebox. We remove creosote, soot, debris, and any animal nests. Usually combined with a Level 1 inspection as part of annual maintenance.
“Dan went above and beyond to ensure that the new fireplace was installed correctly, and even fixed a leak problem at the roof level. We are both satisfied and thrilled with the service by not just Dan, but all the folks employed by South Y Fireplace.”— Suzy A., Google Review
